Doll Eye Swap!

Yesterday I did something I never thought I would ever do. I changed the eyes on my Paola Reina Las Amigas Abigail doll!

Paola Reina doll

Yes that took some courage: eye swap!

I was so scared of ruining the doll's eyes but as you can see she looks lovely!

Las Amigas doll

I had found some doll eyes in a fairly local shop which were very cheap. A really strange thing to find there. Dolls aren't really a hobby around here.

First I removed her head even if it wasn't necessary. I wanted to see what the sockets were like inside.

Next using a sharp pair of scissors I carefully pulled the old eyes out without scratching the vinyl. Her eyelashes came off at the same time as they had actually been glued to the eyes and not the crease that they should have been glued to. I removed the dried on glue.

I warmed the head with a hairdryer and carefully pushed the new eyes into place inserting first at the bottom and then at the top. No problem and no scratches. Be careful as it heats and softens really quickly.

Using a toothpick I put a thin line of white glue along the crease where her eyelashes are and reglued the eyelashes. They look far better than they did originally!

I warmed the vinyl at the neck when I put her head back on.

She has thoroughly recovered from her "operation" and is really happy with her new look! Lol!
